The History of PoL

The history of PoL goes back to about 1995 (I would have been in the 5th grade at the time), before it was even known as "The Pride of Life". Back then, it would have been called "Mutant Wars", and the storyline was far from what it is today.

MW was the story of five anthros (none of which are in PoL at this point) with magic powers, who were apart of a larger army of anthro mages: the Humanals (Mutant League reference). This Humanal army was fighting against the evil forces of the technologically-advanced Aniverse warriors (Bucky O'Hare) -- and failing miserably. Needless to say, the battle is eventually lost and are heroes are taken in as POWs. In a botched escape attempt, they are transported to another planet: Earth.... Or at least they would have been, had I finished the series.

From 1996-98 I gave Mutant Wars another try, nixing the whole 'impromptu trip to Earth' thing, but the warring storyline persisted. After about five books, that went to Hell, too. I thought for a while after that, roughly three years, on why these comics of mine were failing so miserably. In that time, I came up with a slew of new characters while I was playing around with another storyline. Kedamono is a fairly recent character, created in 2000, and I made the decision to give him starring role in my lastest series, "The Pride of Life" in April 2001, which is the first version of PoL. In this, Kedamono dies at the very beginning of the comic and is reincarnated into a female of his species (that is, after he became a superbeast). The evil forces of the Dark Point Pride were once again awoken, which triggered Keda's memories in the girl and allowed her to tap into his power. After that, heroic adventures ensue as she/Keda go to defeat DPP once again.

I was just starting the 12th book when I hit a snag. Kedamono and crew were on their way to a port city, and I realised I couldn't draw a decent ship to save my life. Needless to say, that version of PoL eventually fell into obscurity. Sad thing is, it could have actually been completed... "But wait! Aren't I reading PoL now?" Yes, yes, but the one that calls this site home is a remake of that previous version. Now, instead of Keda dying early on, we get to see the events of how Kedamono becomes a superbeast through to his eventual death (don't consider this a spoiler; how long he lives is commented upon in the first book).

So, let's see how far we get with this one.
