If, someday, PoL was ever picked up for print, and Mr. Editor wanted me to redraw certain scenes, I'd definitely make Hyde's introduction more exciting visually. As for Hyde himself, he started out as a doodle in my Writing and Lit notebook, originally named Jerin, until a (now former) friend of mine suggested he be named Hyde (we were both fans of L'arc~en~Ciel, the lead singer happens to go by Hyde as his stage name). Like the singer, I wanted him to be extremely handsome, but also badass. I think the moustache tufts and his skills as a archer helped a bit.
