I had the idea that Hyde should be handsome, but I wasn't expecting him to be as popular as he has become. He was to be called Jerin originally, but a friend of mine at the time suggested Hyde, after the lead singer of L'Arc~en~Ciel, her favorite band. The name stuck.
I didn't want Hyde to be overly masculine in appearance, but at the same time, I'm not a fan of feminine-looking men, so he only gets a little peachfuzz of a moustache. On his hair, the chieftain is recognized as the chieftain by growing his hair out and has the option of forming a bound ponytail (refered to as his/her second tail).
Hyde has only been chieftain for about nine months. Because of his lack of experience, and also due to the sudden death of his father, he is supported by virtually all the villagers. He's done his best to be a strong leader for them, and up until the events of Episode 04, had done an excellent job of defending his people, so that no one else would fall victim to the Zapatos gang.
